Obituary of Mary M. Bohn

Mary Mildred (Bundschuh) Bohn was born June 18, 1935, in Rochester, New York, to Mildred A. (Kraft) and Harold F. Bundschuh. From a young age, Mary began caring for others. While a schoolgirl, she helped at a nursing home where, per her older sister, she cared for a Civil War veteran. After graduation she joined the Air Force and became a pediatric nurse. She was stationed in Anchorage when the Great Alaskan Earthquake of 1964 occurred. She remembered buildings breaking and things tossed around, but her turtle (Lil Bit) stayed in its bowl on her dresser! After she left the Air Force, she worked at Columbia Presbyterian’s Babies Hospital in NYC. She influenced her sister, Mildred, and two nieces ,Pamela & Jennifer, to become nurses. For six years she lived with her sister Arlene’s family and was a second mother to her nieces, Patti & Pam and nephew, Rob. She took them on many memorable trips and adventures, and added extra love and laughter to their lives. She was active in the Lutheran church, where she met the love of her life, Ron, and became a beloved stepmother, grandmother & great-grandmother.

She passed away November 22, 2024, and was predeceased by her husband, Ronald F. Bohn; parents, and siblings, Warren, June, Betty (Merzke) and Jack. She is survived by her siblings, Arlene (Figler), William, and Mildred; stepson, Gary, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. (As written by her niece, Pamela Ferguson)
