I met Werner Schenk via Messenger video after he decided to have Tripping Stones (Stolpersteine) laid in front of his last residence in his home town of Lübeck in Northern Germany. The Stolpersteine are laid in remembrance of victims of the Holocaust.
Werner Schenk was very mesmerising and jovial in the vast memories of long enduring life. He was a proud and dedicated family man giving his children all that was necessary to be successful in life! He gave them a loving home which you can experience when you talk to Kurt. He was also a proud citizen of the country he loved.
May he be remembered with a smile which he gave to all who knew him. My only regret is that I never met him in person.

We will miss you so much Papa. I'm glad you were able to meet Leo and watch him grow into the smart little boy he is now. Love you.

I am so sad to have lost a trusted friend and a smart, creative and beloved colleague. Werner and I have practically kept alive the CIS Dept at the Simon School for a long and mostly a tough time. He gave me numerous ideas and was a role model in many ways. Werner was beloved by his students and they have all appreciated his structured and well organized way of teaching. His amazing life story is the symbol of the Jewish National destiny in the 20th century. A miracle of survival and regrowing after a horrific time. Janet and Werner were close with us and I will always cherish their memory.
