Obituary of Sidney R. Ludwig

Sidney R. “Sid” Ludwig of Penfield passed away peacefully February 13, 2013 at age 77 after battling cancer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, fireman and farmer. Sid was predeceased by his parents, Clinton and Dorothy; sisters, Sandy Davis and Janice Nielson; brothers, Terrence and Andre; cousin, Gary; special uncle, Guy McGowan. Sid is survived by his loving wife, Jean; children, Doug (Sue), Debi (Mark) May, Jennifer (Dave) Merriman, Fred (Chris) and Sid (Mary); grandchildren, Timothy, Corey, Brett, Pamela, Victor, Evelyn, Justin, Kristen and Bradley; brothers, Tim and Jon; sister, Sally (Bernie) Williams. Sid was Past Chief, Past Commissioner, Past Secretary and a 50+ year member of the Penfield Fire District. He was also an Assistant Fire Marshall for 12 years, a NISOA member since 1984 and a 19 year FLBOA member. Sid retired from the Penfield School District after teaching for 35 years. He was also a maple syrup producer and a master gardener. No prior calling. Sid’s Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10 AM at ST. Joseph’s Church, 43 Gebhardt Road, Penfield. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Donations in Sid’s memory may be directed to the Penfield Fire Company.
